Cheerleaders Rock!!!

Two weekends ago L participated in the Arkansas State Cheerleading Championships. It was so much fun to watch. There were many highlights.

L's team performed in the morning and rocked it out.

We waited around for the awards ceremony so we had the opportunity to watch several of the other squads go. Let me just tell you.....competitive cheerleaders are tough!!!! We were watching an older squad perform. One girl hurt her leg some how. I don't know how she went on. She had tumbled to the back of the floor like she was suppose to and when she stood up she was in pain. She tried to discretely walk it off behind all the action but I honestly thought she was going to have to walk off the floor but she didn't. She made several painful expressions and went on. I lost track of her during their routine. I will say she played it off very well. Secondly, a girl on the same squad was walking off the floor when they were done with their routine (if you have a weak stomach stop reading now.) and vomited. I am not sure why but she barely made it off the floor. Later I saw another girl with her knee wrapped with ice and wraps. So needless to say these girls are tough. I don't know the outcome of these girls but wow. They perform injured and sick. That shows their dedication. I know L cheered in a competition this year when she was sick. Poor thing had ran 102 fever for 2-3 days but she wanted to go. Looking back at the pictures you can tell she was sick. Does that make me a bad parent for allowing my daughter to cheer sick or does that show what kind of competitor I have on my hands? I will say, I sing the praises of children's Motrin. It really does work for 6-8 hours.

The gym where L trains has put together a squad called the Showstoppers. This is a squad of little girls with special needs. Their routine was AWESOME. It was soooo rewarding to see these little ladies out there getting this opportunity. They received a standing "O". I praise the Lord for the gym giving these girls this chance and for the Cheer Force cheerleaders and coaches that helped make this routine happen.

I worked a weak 2 hour shift at the competition. Some moms and dads worked the night before to set up and then all day Saturday. Wow!! My job was to be the runner of the candy grams. These where good luck wishes from family and friends with a sucker. I would take the grams down to each squad before they preformed. While I waited on some squads to get to the holding area, I watched the girls. It was nice to see the girls as they walked off tell the other squad about to go on Good Luck and the Squad about to go on telling the girls that just came off the floor good job. It is nice to see good sportsmanship is still in existence. While I was "working" I was able to see our Level 4 Large Senior Division squad bring down the house. They ended up winning 1st place in their division and grand Champion. They were so good they outscored the Level 5 squad that is going to World's this year. That is amazing.

I will close by saying I am proud to be the mom to one of these tough cheerleaders and am very thankful for her ability everyday.

L's squad placed 2nd out of 10 teams. All the other squads placed 2nd as well. Except for, of course, our Level 4 squad which brought home 1st place and Grand Champs.
I can’t forget little man himself. He is "sissy's" best cheerleader. It makes me smile from ear to ear when I hear him yell,
"GOOOOO SISSY.", ;)

God Bless!!!!!
